MuLondon Natural Organic Skincare
Posted on Monday, June 20, 2011 by Beauty Skin Care Natural
Established in 2008, MuLondon is based in London, UK, specialising in producing the finest natural and organic products for skin, body and home. MuLondon fine products are made by hand from pure, natural and, where possible, certified organic ingredients.
All MuLondon products are 100% vegan and are registered by The Vegan Society. All MuLondon products are, and always will be:
- Organic, where possible. Natural - in the true sense of the word
- Mild and effective
- Super-concentrated and full of active ingredients
- Completely free from man-made chemicals: preservatives such as parabens, emulsifiers, mineral oils and artificial fragrances are banned
- Cruelty-free: never tested on animals, always free from animal ingredients
MuLondon products contain no artificial preservatives, emulsifiers or fragrances. Instead, pure natural essential oils and herbal extracts are used to divinely scent and gently preserve.
Boris, founder and owner of MuLondon and self described “head cream-whipper”, very kindly sent me two of his moisturizers to try.
How lovely is the packaging?
L - R: Organic Marigold, Frankincense & Myrrh Face Moisturiser and Organic Rose Face Moisturiser
I won't go over the two moisturizers separately as they both work well for me and I really didn't notice much difference between the two, but I would still like to include the description of each one from the MuLondon website:
Organic Marigold, Frankincense & Myrrh Face Moisturiser (£13 for 60ml or £7 for 30ml)
An exclusive blend of organic Shea Butter and Jojoba oil, extracts of Marigold and Blue Chamomile and the essential oils of Frankincense and Myrrh. Ideal for dry & mature skin.
Organic Rose Face Moisturiser (£19 for 60ml or £10 for 30ml)
Luxury 100% organic face moisturiser with Rose otto oil, Rosehip Extract and Rosemary. This amazing trio will pamper, balance and nourish dry, irritated and sensitive skin.
The first thing that I noticed was the smell of the Rose moisturizer. When I first smelled it, I was quite suprised, because it's not your typical cheap and chemical rose scent - this is the real thing. In fact, the essential oil of rose used is certified organic and steam distilled - it is not solvent-extracted, as is the case with the cheaper rose absolute, hence the difference of scent.
Did you know that thirty roses must be used to make a single drop of Rose Otto? This is why this oil is the most precious essential oil in the world.
Another thing that really surprised me was the texture of the product. It looks solid in the tub, but it feels a little buttery when you scoop it out of the tub but it melts when in contact with your skin. I have never seen something like this before, and let me tell you, I'm amazed!
MuLondon moisturizers are super concentrated: 100% active ingredients and no added water - that's why you need only a tiny amount, best applied to moist skin, after a bath or shower. You really need a tiny amount of product, otherwise, it could leave your face greasy. Melt a pea-sized amount between the palms of your hands and massage gently into your skin. If your face feels greasy, it means you have used too much. I haven't had this problem, and I find the product gets very quickly absorbed into the skin and moistures it imediately, leaving it soft and smooth.
When I asked Boris which moisturizer he would recommend for my eczema, he told me he have had eczema too for years now - that's why he started MuLondon. The one that works best for his skin is Rose, but he offered me to try Marigold, Frankincense & Myrrh cream, as it's got some really great, soothing ingredients - like Marigold and Blue Chamomile extract. I honestly didn't notice much difference between the two moisturizers, except maybe that the Rose one was only slightly more moisturizing.
Honestly, I have yet to come across better moisturizers than these ones from MuLondon. I don't think I have ever used moisturizers that are not water based, and I can tell there's an great difference, especially for my eczema! The texture is perfect, and I can tell you it will be hard to use something else after that.
