Eau Claire (WQOW) - With just days to go, teams in the WQOW Weight Loss Challenge are stepping up their efforts to shed pounds before the final weigh-in.

The Eau Claire YMCA has some advice to keep the pounds off. Staff say writing down your goals can help you stay focused. Revisit those goals from time to time, and make adjustments to keep them reachable. Also, keep a schedule of when you want to work out.

"If you make yourself a schedule and say, 'Okay, this is when I'm going to go in. This is when I'm going to exercise.' You're going to hold yourself that much more accountable for it. If you don't write to down, then, 'I'll just do it later.' Then, you might not ever get to it," says Michelle Steege, Eau Claire YMCA intern.

"Statistics show that most people stop working out within 90 days. I think it's a little bit shorter. I think it's within a weeks, two weeks. Whereas, if you had it written down, saying, 'I'm going to do this,' that absolutely, really comes into play," says Jamie Hoover, Eau Claire YMCA personal trainer.

Teams can weigh in at Mayo Clinic Health System through September 14. WQOW News 18 will announce the winning workplaces later at the end of September.
