Weight loss challenge begins in Sunset Hills - KSDK

Sunset Hills, MO (KSDK) - Starting Saturday, a local community kicks off a challenge to help you lose weight and get fit. It's similar to "The Biggest Loser", but instead of a television competition, this one takes place in Sunset Hills.
It's fair to say most people don't go to O'Leary's restaurant in Sunset Hills to count calories and watch their diet. O'Leary's is now adding something good to you, and good for you to their menu.
"The majority of our menu was not health conscious and had fries on everything and cheese so we figured we would offer some healthy options," said General Manager Justin Hollowell.
A change started when O'Leary's decided to take part in what's being called "The Big Sunset Hills Weight Loss Challenge". The competition is for citizens and anyone else wanting to commit to losing weight and eating healthy for three months.
Fitness leaders at the Sunset Hills Community Center say they're hoping for big business over the next three months as challengers get in shape.
Competitors put $50 in a pot, and then focus on eating right and working out weekly. The top three "losers" will win money from the pot along with prizes.
"I definitely think incorporating physical fitness into their life is hopefully going to stick with them a whole lot longer," said Fitness Recreation Assistant Jen Rowlen.
Last minute registration along with a program kickoff meeting takes place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sunset Hills Community Center.
