Sarasota deputies investigate attempted kidnapping of girl, 12, on Siesta Key - Bradenton Herald

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying who tried to kidnap a 12-year girl from a Siesta Key condominium complex, according to a news release.

About 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the suspect grabbed the girl as she was walking from the pool at the Sea Winds Condominiums, 6703 Midnight Pass Road. When the girl resisted, he let go and fled the area on foot, according to the report.

The suspect is described as being 25 to 45 years old, and standing 6 feet tall with a thin build. He has unkempt strawberry blonde hair, a pale face with acne and dirt on his clothing. At the time of the attempted kidnapping, he was wearing a white T-shirt, khaki shorts or pants and work boots.

The sheriff's office asks anyone with information about what happened or the identity of a possible suspect to call (9410 861-4900 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS (8477), or online at www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com or via text message by texting TIP109 plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
