The No. 11 Gophers volleyball team upset No. 4 Texas on Friday night at the Sports Pavilion, winning 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17.

The game was part of the Diet Coke Classic and also was the Gophers' home opener. They play Texas again Saturday.

It was the second victory against a team ranked in the national top four in program history. The Gophers also beat a No. 4 team in 2008, California.

Katherine Harms led the Gophers (2-1) with a career-high 17 kills and a .441 hitting percentage, and Tori Dixon hit for .500, 11 kills and a career-high three aces. Ashley Wittman had 11 kills and 11 digs. Mia Tabberson finished with 41 assists, and Jessica Granquist had 20 digs.

The Gophers held Texas to a .120 hitting percentage, and none of the Longhorns reached double figures in kills.

• The St. Paul Saints scored six runs in the 10th inning and beat Winnipeg 12-6 in Winnipeg, evening their best-of-three American Association playoff series 1-1.
