According to the study, published in the Journal of American Dietetic Association, drinking fruit juices from packaged containers could increase the risk of cancer since they contain a lot of sugar and many of their cancer fighting properties would be lost by the time the drink had been processed and packaged.

The researchers observed more than 2,200 adults and made them fill out a questionnaire regarding their dietary habits.

At the end of two years, the researchers followed up on the participants and found that while those who were eating fruits and vegetables, such as apples and sprouts, reduced the risk of cancer, those who drank packaged fruit juice had a higher risk than when the study started.
