Review: Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator Kit from NaturalSkinShop.com

About NaturalSkinShop.com:
Natural Skin Shop has specialized in a variety of skin care treatments and skin peels including Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid and Salicylic Acid peels. Recently we have added popular skin care treatments such as TCA chemical peels and Jessner solution facial peels, which are both considered highly effective and professional style peels. We continue to offer a range of other skin care treatments, including Vitamin C treatments, skin lightening, anti-aging, Botox-alternative, acne treatments and at-home microdermabrasion.
Ordering from NaturalSkinShop.com:
Before I placed my order, they made sure I was choosing the right peel for my skin type by offering me the services of a personal esthetician. I thought I should go for the lowest strength available as my skin is dry and prone to eczema, and Karen confirmed my choice. So I ended up ordering the Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator Kit, which retails at $56.
My package came in a box full of styrofoam, and the products were nested in a pretty and handy toiletry bag, that I will be sure to re-use. The kit includes:
- Glycolic Cleanser 4oz / 120 ml
- Glycolic 10% Daily Exfoliator 2oz / 60 ml
- Hyaluronic Moisturizer 1oz / 30ml
- box of gauze pads
Glycolic Cleanser (retails at $24.00 for 4oz)
Description:
An intense Glycolic cleanser for all skin types except extremely sensitive skin. Combined with Anti-Aging Natural Green tea, Aloe nutrient extracts, and Alpha Hydroxy Acids to promote cell renewal & rejuvenation. Formulated to remove dirt, oil, environmental pollutants and make-up residue. The high Glycolic content will bring the skin's pH level down to prep for the application of a peel or at-home exfoliation. When used on its own as a daily cleanser, it will continue the cell turnover process, helping to maintain professional treatments. Free from artificial perfumes and dyes, with a pleasant natural chamomile fragrance.
- An intensive cleanser for most skin types.
- Formulated to remove dirt, oil, environmental pollutants and make-up residue.
- Perfect as a pre-peel cleanser.
What I think:
As I have such sensitive skin, I'm very selective with cleansers and I tend to stick with creamy and non-foaming ones, as they are less drying. At the sight of the words "intensive cleanser", I was a little worried. However, I really wanted to make the most out of the treatment so I used it anyway. Surprisingly, my skin didn't even feel tight after use, and the cleanser didn't dried it out. It foams well and the scent is very subtle.
Description:
The Daily Glycolic Exfoliator helps prevent young skin from showing damage, boosts collagen, minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and, if used with a peel, maintains and improves peel results. The results are:
- Little irritation and immediate recovery.
- Keeps collagen levels high.
- Helps sensitive skin build tolerance.
- Removes dead skin allowing serums to work better.
What I think:
As I have never tried chemical peels before and because I have extremely dry skin, I chose the lightest strength, which is called a "daily exfoliator" instead of a proper "peel". I was really scared to use it for the first time, as I thought it would burn and sting, but it surprisingly didn't.
As it's a daily exfoliator, it's very gentle on the skin. There's no beads in it, and the texture actually looks like a serum. I didn't use it for a long time enough to say if it gets rid of fine lines and wrinkles. I didn't even experienced irritation, which is amazing in my case as I have to be very careful with scrubs and only use them once a week.
Description:
To achieve the best peel results, you need to repair and nourish the skin with a high-quality moisturizer. Peel RX Hyaluronic Moisturizer is a highly concentrated and purified form of Hyaluronic Acid.
Hyaluronic is regarded as one of the best moisturizing ingredients available due to its moisture retention properties. Peel RX - 100% Pure Hyaluronic Moisturizer is the only product we recommend to apply to the skin immediately after a peel. Other moisturizers contain minimal nourishing ingredients and several chemical additives which can harm the skin and negate the benefits of performing a peel. Peel RX - Hyaluronic Moisturizer is oil-free so it is appropriate for all skin types, ranging from mature, dry skin to oily, acne/blemished skin. Dry skin types may wish to apply a cream to seal in the moisture.

What I think:
I don't think I've heard of Hyaluronic Acid before, but I figured out that if it was the only product recommended to use after a peel, it could only be good on my dry skin. It didn't get rid of the stubborn dry patches on my forehead, but it left my skin super soft. It's also recommended to apply a cream to seal in the moisture if you have dry skin, which I did.
The moisturizer as a light texture, just like a serum, and it sinks very quickly into the skin. You only need a tiny quantity as your skin can only absorb a certain amount a the time.
Recommend? yes, but if you don't have sensitive skin, you might want to try a stronger peel
