Children In Distress

I had a customer recently and noticed on the address that she worked for children in distress, i had never heard of them before if im honest but i was intrigued to find out more, the lovely lady got in touch with this information, i think its a great charity and thought i just had to mention it in my blog.

Children in Distress is a Romanian children's charity, now in its 21st year.  We were established following the end of the communist regime when images of children and babies, many with HIV/AIDS, were shown on television in locked wards, tied to cots, dirty and unfed in institutions across Romania.  Although based in Glasgow, our work covers the whole of the UK.  I am employed by the charity, part time, as funding development manager.

We are a small charity, with only three full time and two part time staff [one of whom is my conterpart in Yorkshire].  We are fortunate to have wonderful supporters who help us to help those who are termed, "Europe's Forgotten Children" many of whom are severely disabled, are incurably or terminally ill.

We have evolved over the years and, in addition to our hospices throughout Romania, we have opened a number of Child Development Centres, helping children with Autism and involved with a number of Street Children Projects.  I hope this help but please take a look at our website at
www.childrenindistress.org.

Thanks x
