A recent blog about EcoInhabit's line of Earthlab cosmetics touched on the benefits of choosing products made with natural ingredients. Skin, the largest organ, is incredibly absorbent, a good reason to take a closer look at what we're putting on it.EcoInhabit takes a holistic approach to healthy, restorative lifestyles. If you're choosing natural cosmetic products for your face, why not also opt for natural products for all of your family Bath and Beauty needs.

Bath and Beauty Products and Good Health: Why natural soap matters

In 2010, the David Suzuki Foundation asked Canadians to read the labels on their bath and beauty products to discover just what they were putting on their bodies. The online survey found that 80 per cent of entered products contained at least one of the toxic chemicals listed on the Dirty Dozen list of ingredients to avoid. Part of that list includes things such as parabens, coal tar dyes and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives – scary stuff.

Rocky Mountain Soap Company Bath and Beauty items are 100 per cent natural, one of the reasons EcoInhabit chose to carry their brand.

"They're totally natural, plant-based products," explained EcoInhabit's Jan Singbeil. "Our clients love them and we use many of the items ourselves."

Jan added, EcoInhabit also respects Rocky Mountain's business practices. "It's a family-run company from Alberta that has done great things. They've created a wonderful line of quality bath and beauty products."

Cam Baty and Karina Birch of Canmore, AB., own Rocky Mountain Soap Company. Their passion is finding the most nurturing and therapeutic ingredients nature has to offer and imparting those healing qualities into their products.

Part of Rocky Mountain's philosophy is that when an ingredient has been identified as potentially harmful, it's safest to avoid it completely. The company is also mindful of the environment and since their products are all natural, they are biodegradable. Packaging is kept to a minimum and only recyclable and recycled paper with vegetable ink dyes are used.

As well as using all natural soap ingredients, no testing is done on animals, ever.
