LFW S/S '12 Report: Acne - Grazia
We love a bit of a moment in fashion, but by nine pm on a Sunday night, you just don't expect it. But then Acne never do what people expect. Held in a derelict building in central London, fashion's finest climbed four flights of stairs to be greeted by denim clad male models offering martinis and vodka - Acne know our favourite things then. This was the Swedish mega brand's 3rd season in London, and their biggest show yet.
Inspired by Creative Director, Jonny Johansson's family holiday to Morocco, even though he tried to fight being inspired by the country. They really don't like a cliche at Acne. But thank God for us that it seduced him, because the Johansson holiday has given us one of the best collections of the season. Playing with a voluminous silhouette with wide trousers and oversized silk kaftan capes (which are bound to be a most wanted piece of the summer), Circle skirts teamed with cut out star motif T-shirts, prom dresses and parkas, motocross trousers that were crying out for some bike tricks, all delivered in the most amazing colour palette, that was shown to perfection against the mirrored catwalk. The accessories have also come in to their own, with mini suitcase bags and tasselled flats that are guaranteed to be as popular as the insanely successful Pistol boot.
Everyone left the show with a renewed sense of excitement, a delighted that out of every fashion capital, Acne chose to show in London. And we're never going to let them leave.
