A gluten-free food information fair is scheduled from 11 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. Saturday in the Hearthstone Manor, 333 Dick Road, Depew.

Gluten Freedom Day will mark the 25th anniversary of the Western New York Gluten-Free Diet Support Group. The event will feature a vendor expo for local and national purveyors.

The expo is open to the public. A$5 admission fee is waived for those attending the workshops, for which preregistration is required. Highlights::

• "Serving the Gluten-Free Customer" at 11 a. m., presented by Robert Syracuse, president of Pizza Plant. It will be directed to restaurant chefs, owners and managers.

• "Diet Is the Prescription" at 2:45

p. m., presented by Shelly Asplin, nutrition coordinator for Celiac Sprue Association USA. It will target dietitians and the newly diagnosed.

Celiac disease is a genetic autoimmune disorder that affects children and adults. Individuals with celiac disease are unable to digest foods that contain the gluten found in wheat, rye, barley and their derivatives.
