Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC on Monday will open the Children's Acne Treatment Center to focus on treatment of patients 21 and younger in Pine.

The center is the first of its kind in the region, Children's Hospital said. The center will be led by board-certified pediatric dermatologists Robin Gehris and Douglas Kress.

The staff also will include a pediatric dermatology fellow and four certified physician assistants.

"Teens, children and infants who suffer from all ranges of acne, from mild to moderate or even severe, can be reassured that now there is a center just for them," Dr. Gehris said in a prepared statement.

"Children are not simply little adults, and their acne treatment plans must be individually created for them while taking into account their age, size, skin type and lifestyle in order for it to be a successful experience."

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. for new patients and the same hours plus Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 5:30 p.m. for returning patients.

The center is located in Suite 108, Pine Center, 11279 Perry Highway. For an appointment with one of the dermatologists call Children's Dermatology Services at 724-933-9190.
