A recent report in the House Magazine called, "Plant-Based Diets: A solution to our public health crisis," highlights the benefits of a vegetarian diet.

Key medics highlight the frequency and costs of the multiple chronic illnesses, such as, heart disease, cancer, obesity and diabetes and that they can all be significantly reduced by swapping to a vegetarian diet.

In a letter, the London-based NGO, World Preservation Foundation, urges the Prime Minister to take an international lead in the support and implementation of healthier plant-based policies and incentives.

Dietary choices are responsible for most of these chronic diseases.

60% of the UK population is overweight or obese, with about 200,000 individuals dying every year from cardiovascular diseases alone, costing the NHS over £30 billion.
