Choosing the right skin care products to treat aging and damaged skin can be almost impossible to do. Things that we place on our skin, like chemicals and such, are absorbed into the bloodstream, and because we have more skin than we do anything else, these can sometimes cause health risks. It is best when selecting products to try and choose the ones that have fewer additives and have more natural based ingredients.

The results from some of the natural ingredients will be just as dramatic and quickly visible as the ones from the harsh chemical agents that can cause irreparable damage to our skin. When we look to nature for the solution to our skin problems we find that many of the problems we have had natural remedies just waiting for us to discover their healing properties.

Recently it has been discovered that a short string of amino acids known as Peptides are one of the most effective treatments for the aging skin woes we have. Generally these were used only in the most expensive of skin care treatments. Matrixyl 3000 is one of the commonly used Peptides that creates the bodies desire to produce an increased amount of collagen, which as a result causes the skin to become firmer and more youthful in both texture and appearance.
The peptide acts like collagen does when it is breaking down which causes the body to assume that it needs to make more collagen to replace what is deteriorating, resulting in younger looking skin. Some of the natural occurring peptides are being claimed to have as much power as retinol based products when it comes to correcting sun damage on skin. The beautiful part of the peptides doing the work of retinol is that they do not create the side effects that retinol is known for.

Antioxidants found in foods we consume have recently been studied and found that they have great potential in correcting free radical damage. The effects of Vitamin C have been proven to improve the condition of skin that is showing the signs of aging, or the signs of years of overexposure to the suns harmful UV rays. Vitamin C can be used as a preventive measure against the ravaging rays of the sun as well as a healing aging after the damage has been done.

This in no way implies that massive doses of Vitamin C can replace common sense and the application of sunscreen, the two should actually be used in conjunction. Skin shows the passage of time by producing smaller amounts of oils, and becoming drier, which in turns makes those crow's feet at the corners of your eyes become more visible, as well as highlighting other facial wrinkles.

The best way to combat this visible time line is to hydrate the skin of your face better and thus cause the skin cells to become full of moisture and plump. Sodium PCA is a humectant that occurs naturally and it works to bind moisture to the cells of your facial skin and reduce the appearance of those fine lines and wrinkles that are forming. Argan oil is another great moisturizer. Being aware of the ingredients will make choosing a product easier for you.
