At the digital kitchen table, today's hot topics include an update on the first week of 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart, plus a grab bag of food finds from around the web.

Kickstart kicks in!: The first week of the 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart is coming to a close, and so far I haven't had problems sticking to the diet because the recipes I've tried have been filling, with plenty of flavors with no additional oil. And I've never eaten more fruit, which has been keeping me full between meals -- and away from the crunchy snacks that are my downfall. I'm already down a few pounds.

Part of the fun of exploring a new eating regimen is the chance to learn new techniques, and cooking classes are always a great way to pick up new tricks. Cooking instructor Sophie Rahman guided me through the complex world of lentils and how they are used in Indian cuisine during one of her Masala cooking classes. I was surprised at the amazing range of dishes that incorporated the legumes, including a pancake with cilantro-mint chutney, and a curried zucchini dish. And they used practically no oil, so the dishes just happened to be Kickstart-friendly. We'll share those recipes in an upcoming FOODday.

Saturday grab-bag: We search the web all week for interesting food news and recipes, and sometimes we find so many that we need to do a clearing house. Here are a few that were too good not to pass along:
