Halloween!

This will be the first year my toddler gets to go trick-or-treating and I'm so excited. We watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" last night and everything I told him about going out on Halloween made sense to him when he saw the gang of kids knock on a door and receive CANDY! Now, since he's only two, "candy" is fruit snacks and I'm hoping to keep it that way.

I just put the finishing touches on his and his 12 year old brother's costumes. My oldest wanted to go as SpongeBob this year, so I figured I'd do costumes that go together. Therefore, my little guy is going to be "DoodleBob." The DoodleBob costume was easy - I just painted a box white and then made a rough drawing of SpongeBob on it. The large box that I made into SpongeBob, on the other hand, has had me up until 2am for the last few nights (I can only get the paints out after the little guy goes to bed unless I want "help.") Even though it'll only be worn once, I'm very proud of it!

Earlier this evening, we did our pumpkins. I bought pie pumpkins at the farmer's market last week so we could have our Halloween and eat it, too. Since I plan on cooking them, we couldn't cut them into Jack-o-lanterns. Instead, I got out all of my old magazines and cut out every eye, nose, mouth, ear, and hair I could find. Tonight, the whole family sat in the kitchen and taped these parts onto our pumpkins. We had a great time trying out different faces and showing each other! The pumpkins look creepier than anything you could carve, too. Our toddler had the BEST time and, since there were no sharp objects involved, he was able to make his own pumpkin with very minimal help.

Pink Flamingo FOTD: a Halloween Look

Hi everybody,

You thought I forgot to do a FOTD this week, didn't you? Well, I didn't. I just waited to get closer to Halloween to post it.  This year's look is simple and I only used one eye brush: MAC 217. The products I used are a mix of drugstore and department store makeup. This is the first time I use the NYC eyeshadow duo called Island Sunset and so far, I like it. They are matte and quite pigmented as well.

Pink Flamingo FOTD
What I used:
Stuff not labelled: Layla foundation shade #4, EDM foundation in Tan for contouring, BareMinerals original mineral veil,  MAC concealer NW20
Brushes: ELF Studio powder brush, Sonia Kashuk flat top blush brush, StudioTools dual-fiber brush, MAC 217
Wanna know how to do this pink and gorgeous look? Jump!

Eyes

Open eye
I used a demi strip lash and obviously, I didn't do such a good job applying it.
The eye chart
Remember to blend the pink eyeshadow and Stila Kitten together
Should look like this
Again, the demi lash strip really bugged me. It looks fine in real life, I swear!
Face
Apply foundation with dual-fiber brush, then apply concealer. Set everything with mineral veil before applying blush with blush brush. Wipe the blush brush clean and use it to contour your face with Tan foundation. Wipe the brush again and use it it highlight with Gotta Glow.
How to make things more Halloween-y, take 1: add a big fluffy hair bow. No sewing involved. Just some folding and tying the middle with an elastic band before fixing it to a head band.

Lips
Apply MAC Viva Glam VI SE on your lips and layer MAC Pure Rose from the Ungaro collection on top
How to make things more Halloween-y, take 2: utilize a pair of funky eyeglasses. That pair just happened to lay around the house.

"I'm Batman!"
How to make things more Halloween-y, take 3: wear a mask :)

Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope you are going to have a lot of fun. And remember, party responsively.

Mail of the week (October 25 - 29)

A coupon for a free tub of Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Moist Wipes: I believe this offer has ended, but you can still complete this form to get $1.00 off Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Moist Wipes.

Free sample of Escada Absolutely Me: This smells sweet, like most of Escada fragrances. Try it for free, too! Just fill in your details here.

My laptop case from eBay:  I wanted one with animal prints so bad... and I found one! It's great, I love it. And I got it for only $11.55! I bought it here.

Samples from Shiseido: A while back ago, Shiseido offered to fill an online survey to send products samples suited to our skin type. I have no idea why I received samples from the Pureness Oil-Control 1-2-3 Skincare range as my skin is dry, but those are one application samples, so I'll try them anyway.
  • Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam
  • Pureness Balancing Softener Alcohol-Free
  • Pureness Matifying Moisturizer Oil-Free
  • Facial cotton (4 sheets)

November 2010 issue of ELLE Canada: I got an offer to subscribe to this magazine for only $1 an issue, so I decided to give it a try (=

My prize from Shade's giveaway: The prize was a jewelry piece of my choice from $35 and under from Fantasy Jewelry Box. Now a lot of trouble happened (I waited around 2 weeks after placing my order to finally be told that they thought the package got lost, but then they realized the item I wanted was discontinued), so they told me they were sorry and gave me a credit of $60 instead. When I picked two items and ordered them (for a total of $59.90), they thought I was reviewing a piece of jewelry - in which case the limit is $50, so they told me to call the customer service. I wrote back to them saying I only won a giveaway, and that I had spoken with a different lady before and blahblahblah. After all that trouble, I finally received a package from them... only to find that one item I ordered was missing! I ordered Ashlee's Silver Studded Black Metal Bangle for me and Champagne & Clear CZ Princess Cut Gold Tennis Bracelet for my mother but I only received the last one! I contacted them regarding that but I always receive their answer 1 week later... I'm thinking that they are being very unprofessional. I will definitely not order from them again! But thank you Shade for this giveaway!

 November 2010 issue of Allure

Samples from P&G brandSampler: New October samples have arrived! This is what I received:
  • Cascade All in 1 (2 pacs)
  • Scope Outlast Mouthwash

Belly at Large: The Fire Cat and Self-Esteem

Happy early Halloween, everyone!

Today, I'm neither frabjous nor festive. Halloween is right around the corner and I know what the mamarazzi is going to dress up as. However, we are bound to cat-human confidentiality so I can't tell. Also, not having opposable thumbs makes it hard to type and I rely on her for all the typing. What a boogah, right?

So, the mamarazzi has been on a video editing roll lately. The latest victim, err..., I mean product is this video of moi doing the intimate grooming. With the intimate part aside, I must say it's a good video. The music choice is somewhat an irony. "Dirrty", you think? Anyways, just watch it:

Also, this article on Marie Claire really ticks me off. The author did apologize at the end but to me, it's an apology a minute too late. I happen to like that show "Mike and Molly", the characters are cute and they do have chemistry. I know a part of my allure is my chunky quarterback player size. The mamarazzi, however, has ceased to call me "chunky", "big boy", and "chubby" anymore. She said those words may hurt my self-esteem. Like yeah! I'm a cat. But still, words hurt, people!

I hope you'll enjoy your Halloween. Please remember, don't drink and drive. And please brush your teeth after you eat candies.

Love, peace, and tuna fish,
Mr. Belly

Futuromic Imaging Fair & Announcement of Giving Frame Photography Project 2010

Last week, I attended Futuromic Imaging 2010 in Times Square which was organised by Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd for the first time.Futuromic is the exclusive sole distributor of Nikon, Sandisk, Ricoh, Tamron, Mitsubishi and many more in nationwide!

The aims of the company and objective of organising such event is to bring together the local photography fratenity to a hands-on experience of "feel and touch" on the wide range of photographic products that they distribute. And as this is a brand promoting event, they are not doing any sale at the fair itself. And there are pretty brand ambassadors doing catwalk with the products from the brands that Futuromic carries. Let the picture do the talking

Guests and members of media are entertained with dance show

Arthur Tan - The 2010 Cleo Bachelor Finalist as the MC

Below are the Brand Ambassador doing catwalk. And since some of the stage photos are not clear, I have included their beautiful picture that I managed captured while lepak-ing in the fair .

Look at the numbers of photographers down there ! I can't even see myself there!

Last but not least, me and Xavier, thank you for inviting to this event.

At this event too, Futuromic also announced that they are launching the Giving Frames Photography Grant Project, where Malaysian photographers apply for the grant maximum of RM30,000 to fund production costs for a non-profit photography project. PhotoMalaysia has joint partnership with Futuromic Photo AV Sdn Bhd to oversee the management and implementation of this grant. The proposed grant MUST reflect the grant's mission which is " to inspire and influence others to a worthy social cause through photography" .

Those interested to learn more or to apply for the grant can do so by visiting the company's website at www.futuromic.com or email them at givingframesproject@gmail.com
